T-Top & Charlie Clips Address "Rookies vs. Vets" Headliner

The headline battlers for URL's Rookies vs. Vets card sit down with Smack ahead of their match-up.

Charlie Clips and T-Top will face off as the headline match-up at URL's upcoming "Rookies vs. Vets" event in New York City later this month.

Leading up to their battle, Clips and Top sat down with Smack White to dissect the match-up and talk about the event as a whole.

Clips is still at the top of his game with plenty of battle rap fans lauding him as their current #1. Still, Charlie essentially forfeited some battles through 2014 by not preparing properly, confirming that he takes some battles seriously and leaves others by the wayside. The inconsistency is a topic Clips admits to during the sit-down before confirming that he's bringing his best for T-Top.

Like Clips, T-Top has stayed humble through the lead-up to the battle but promised to show out on March 28.

"I'ma bring that old SMACK back," Top said, whose style has been rightfully compared to Shotgun Suge's. "Bring that shit back niggas don't do no more, that them niggas should be doing. It's gon' be interesting. We gon' put in some work, we gon' cook a little food."

While Top doesn't hold a candle to the popularity of Clips' other 2015 opponents, Clips says this battle is far from a throwaway.

"This battle mean a lot to me too," he said. "It mean a lot because I know, like they say, I'm the best or I'm arguably the best, [but] I know a lot of people feel like, 'Yo, all he do is play around.' I'm not playing with [T-Top]."

"The thing that I started doing with battle rap again is having fun," Clips added. "I think that's the thing man, your hobby becomes your career and your job. Niggas lose sight of fun. Everything you do can involve fun. I don't care what it is. I found that again. My whole thing is 2015 is already a big year for me for what I got locked in. I got Hollow. After him, Beloved [Loaded Lux] said he wants that smoke. They think that 'cause Hollow and Lux is gon' battle me that I'm not gonna take [T-Top] serious. That's what I'm going against, myself as well. I got a problem sometimes where I do get in the ring and don't take shit serious. I'm taking this young, old man extremely serious."
