Beasley Recaps URL's “Rookies Vs. Vets”

EXCLUSIVE: Beasley also explains why the event's theme was so important for the culture.

Just after the final bars were delivered at SMACK/URL’s "Rookies vs. Vets" this past Saturday (March 28), BattleRap.com caught up with the businessman behind North America’s leading league to discuss the event, something he later described as “groundbreaking.”

“Man, it was an action-packed night of exciting battles,” Beasley said. “The first time ever that you had three complete rounds of a full card loaded with rookies vs. veterans. I thought it was groundbreaking and despite whatever the outcome may be, whatever people may feel, I’m just glad that we were able to do it and venture out that way.”

Discussing why the event's theme was so important, Beasley says it was to promote and usher in the next generation of talent.

“I think because we’re getting to a point within the culture where there’s a lot of leagues popping up and they’re all recycling the same talent,” he says. “So we’re trying to really develop new talent because we’re actually the birthplace of the majority of the talent within the culture. I wanted to have a way to establish these guys in a way they’ve never been put out there. Shouts to all the vets for giving the rookies the opportunity and bringing their name value and their presence to these guys.”
