Mr. Wavy & K-Shine Recap Their URL Battle

The two rappers speak on K-Shine's third round prop and the URL "Rookies vs. Vets" event as a whole.

After a big weekend for battle rap the community is in recap mode.

BattleRap.com caught up with Mr. Wavy and K-Shine following their match-up at URL's "Rookies Vs. Vets" on Saturday (March 28) to get their thoughts on the battle and event as a whole.

Mr. Wavy Says He "Killed" Against K-Shine

Mr. Wavy, who came into the battle as the rookie to K-Shine's veteran, explained why he's plotted his battle rap moves so carefully and spoke about his transition onto the bigger stage.

"I like battles that make sense," he said. "I'm not just gon' battle random people. I know it's gonna be beneficial for me and to stay exclusive. And I know what I bring to the table. That's why it didn't make sense to take certain battle rappers just for nothing."

As for his first time on the big stage, Wavy said he was "feeling great." "First time on the big stage but nothing changed," he added before admitting he was surprised at how much of the audience was familiar with his style.

Wavy, who got served what he says was a "fake antic" by K-Shine, also broke down why he keeps his personal life and battle rap career separate.

"I keep it like that," he said. "It's a lot of smoke and mirror stuff that goes on with this battle world. I don't really keep my personal life in tuned with it. I know I got the talent. I'm a dude that I'd rather y'all respect more my talent when y'all see me."

K-Shine Says Rookies Have It Easier Now

K-Shine was quick to claim victory in the battle, allowing that Wavy performed better than expected.

"I killed," K Shine said. "I did him bad. But he fought though. He did better than I expected from him. I guess it's different things that he has to learn before he could fuck with me."

Speaking about his third round antic, Shine addressed the move.

"I brung somebody that's from his neighborhood that they got a little issues in they neighborhood or whatever," he said. "But it was unexpected. He didn't think I was gonna bring him out."

Reflecting on the card as a whole, Shine compared the current industry to the fledgling battle rap scene he came up with.

"It actually was really harder," he said. "When I was a rookie there wasn't too many guys that was doing it. You would have your Arsonals, your Goodzes, your T-Rexes, Murda Mook, Loaded Lux, Head I.C.E. It wasn't really a lot. But now if you look at it it's evolved so tremendously that there's battle leagues in every country, every state. It's more opportunity to really kick a door down now because if it doesn't work in URL you can always go here [or there]. [Back then] we had one option, we had to do what we had to do to get out of there."
