Prep On What He Learned Against John John Da Don

The Baltimore newcomer recaps his "Rookies vs. Vets" battle with John John.

Following his battle with John John Da Don at SMACK/URL’s "Rookies vs. Vets" event on March 28, Prep chopped it up with BattleRap.com to discuss how he thought the match-up went, as well as to highlight what he’d learned from the experience.

“I feel like the battle was a good experience for me,” Prep says. “I learned a lot from this battle. I promise you, the next person to stand in front of me, it’s going to be ugly. I learned that your comfort [on stage] means everything. You have to feel like you’re home on that stage. From now on, that’s it. I’ve shaken off the nerves, taken out the butterflies. I’m ready now. Next time I show up I’m gonna be home.

“John [John Da Don] can’t write with me,” Prep later added. “He can’t write with me. But, I learned from this stage that it’s not about who can rap better. Rapping is about 30 percent [live]. The footage is a different story but in the building rapping is about 30 to 40 percent. You gotta show a whole bunch of different weapons up there.”

Straight after his battle with Prep, John John Da Don made history by becoming the first battler to perform in both New York and California in the same 24 hours. He hopped on a plane and headed to Vallejo, Calif. to face off against Cali Smoov at Infamouz Battles’ “The Re-Up” event.

We’ve collected some of the talk on social media regarding that battle.
