Tay Roc & Tsu Surf Prep For NOME 5 Battle

Baltimore and Newark will face off on May 9.

URL's "Night Of Main Events 5" is right around the corner and the event is quickly shaping up to be one of the year's biggest. Near the top of the card is a match-up between Tsu Surf and Tay Roc, neither of whom have battled since last September's "Summer Madness 4" event.

The league dropped an in-studio segment with both rappers late last month.

More recently, Surf got on the phone with AngryFans Radio and chopped it up about his thoughts on his opponent and to offer a prediction for the battle.

"People forget that it's two battles," Surf said. "You got in the room and then you got on-camera. That is a total different battle on camera. When you sit back, and it's not one or two people that say it, we all sit back and we watch it and everybody say the same thing, 'Yo, Roc be on a hundred in that room.' When you sit back and you [watch] it on camera it don't look the same. He really not saying too much. Me as a battle rap fan, Roc don't bring to the table what Surf bring to the table. Maybe running off gas ain't a bad thing. It's energy, it's flow. It gets you geeked up. He get the crowd rocking, there's nothing wrong with that. But Roc is off gas. We can't sit here and make a list of Roc bars that was just through the roof."

Later in the interview Surf called into question Tay Roc's status in the industry.

"Tay Roc, right now everybody wanna say, 'Tay Roc top tier,'" Surf said. "Yeah, he cool. That's like putting Paul George with the All Stars. Yeah, he's an All Star. He's no fucking James Harden. He's no fucking Steph Curry. Tay Roc can play with niggas. He can. Anybody that say he can't is a fool. But he's no Con, he's no Tsu Surf. Just my opinion, he's no Hitman. I don't see him beating a lot of niggas. Nah."
