Carter Deems vs. Head I.C.E Announced, Twitter Responds

Some fans love the unconventional match-up, while others think it's a bad look for battle rap.

KOTD has announced that Harlem OG Head I.C.E and friendly weirdo Carter Deems will face off at the league's upcoming "Back To Basics 2" event in Los Angeles on June 27. The announcement was initially met with excitement from a large group of fans but backlash over the unconventional pairing has since bubbled up on Twitter.

Both Head I.C.E and Carter Deems carry strong stage presences in the form of wildly different styles, which is leading some fans and pundits to doubt the viability of this particular clash. For his part, Head I.C.E himself gave Carter props on Twitter recently and hinted at the match-up ahead of the announcement.

Shortly after the announcement, two prominent battle rap commentators lashed out and Head I.C.E responded in kind. Check out much of their exchange with some screengrabs courtesy of the good folks over at RMBVA.

Blogger (and BattleRap.com contributor) Jon Rines recapped the Twitter drama, much of which appears to have been deleted, in a new video.

Watch our recent interview with Carter, where he says he wants to battle I.C.E here.

What do you think about the match-up? Is this too much of a style clash to be successful?
