Rip The General Explains His K-Shine vs. Aye Verb Double-Cross

"K-Shine wanted me to come out and bring me out in the battle to embarrass [Aye Verb]," Rip The General says.

K-Shine's attempt to embarrass Aye Verb with a surprise appearance from his former foe during their battle at Don't Flop Chicago fell flat this past weekend. Rip The General, a St. Louis rapper who previously beefed with Aye Verb, was invited onstage by K-Shine during a 2-on-2 battle also featuring DNA and Hitman Holla in order to expose Verb's history. Instead, he made his orchestrated appearance but sided with his fellow St. Louis natives, sparking laughter from the crowd at K-Shine's expense. (The scene goes down about ten minutes into the just released showdown.)

We caught up with Rip shortly after the battle and he explained how his double-cross fit into place.

"In St. Louis I'm like legendary for the chant 'St. Lou Lou' and me and Aye Verb had problems years ago" Rip told Battlerap.com reporter Rone at the Don't Flop Chicago venue. "So K-Shine decided to call me and have me come out to really stamp his battle rhyme. But I couldn't go against my hometown and plus I'm a fan of Aye Verb and that's how we do it."

As for their former beef, Rip would only offer up a vague explanation: "We just didn't see eye-to-eye at the time and now we see eye-to-eye so everything's good," he said.
