Real Deal & Fresco Recap Don’t Flop Chicago

“I think it went really well,” Fresco says. “I think they did really well too.”

Following their 2-on-2 battle with Big Kannon and Young Kannon at Don’t Flop’s Chicago event this past Saturday (June 20), longtime battle rap partners Real Deal and Fresco spoke with BattleRap.com correspondent Rone to discuss the match-up.

“I think it went really well,” Fresco says. “I think they did really well too.”

The pair went on to discuss how they curated and prepared their material for the match-up.

“We would just come up with different ideas, shoot them over through a text [and] call each other and tell a couple of bars,” Fresco says. “Really we both came up with a bunch of shit and put it together.”

Continuing, Real Deal noted that the pair were cautious not to make their performance too theatrical, instead just wanting to focus on the quality of their rhymes.

“I think we wanted to steer away from doing too much with 2-on-2's because some of these recent 2-on-2's, a lot of people have been [over-choreographing it],” Real Deal says. “Just rap, you know what I mean? But, I think what they did at the same time was cool because they found some of their stronger punches so that was hot but yeah, we didn’t want to do anything too too crazy. Just bar out.”
