Smack White Previews URL’s Summer Plans

Smack announces a URL event for July 25 and weighs in on the possibility of a battle between Tsu Surf and Murda Mook.

URL boss Smack White recently called into PSA Radio to reveal the league’s plans over the coming months.

During the conversation, Smack announced an event scheduled to go down on July 25 in New York City titled “Redemption.” Although he didn’t reveal any match-ups for the card, there are rumors floating around that Danny Myers vs. T-Rex is finally going down this month, though if that were to happen at “Redemption,” it would be a week before Myers is apparently facing off against Danja Zone at L.A.'s "Traffic" event. No official announcement on either of those cards as of press time though.

“I got my birthday bash, ‘Redemption,’” Smack says. “That’s gonna be on July 25. I’m about to put tickets on sale for everybody to purchase their tickets. I put a couple of dope matches together. It’s really the ‘Summer Madness 5’ warm-up. I gotta get people prepared for that SM5 … July 25 it’s going down. That’s my birthday and [Eric] Beasley’s birthday.”

In addition, Smack revealed that he will be making the trip out West for “Traffic” on August 1, URL’s first-ever large scale West Coast event.

“I’ma be in L.A. for the first time on August 1,” Smack says. “We going to L.A. Shout-out to my man KG The Poet, Aspect One, they’re definitely holding it down representing the URL West out there on the West Coast.”

Again, the full card is still somewhat of a mystery, although a preview flyer dropped a few weeks ago featuring B Magic, Big T, Chess, Danny Myers, KG The Poet, Daylyt, Rum Nitty and more. Big T vs. Daylyt was initially confirmed for the card, but Daylyt told us at "Back To Basics 2" that there was only a small chance that it would actually happen.

Elsewhere, Smack weighed in on the debate regarding the potential meeting of Tsu Surf and Murda Mook — the Drake-requested match-up that seems to be building towards a possible SM5 headliner. In case you missed it, the two battlers went back-and-forth on a recent episode of The War Report that is definitely worth checking out.

“I definitely wanna see it too,” he says. “I’m definitely a fan of the shit. I fuck with Surf. I think Surf is real active in his craft. The last time Surf was on the stage, that’s probably one of the best Surf’s I’ve seen when he went up against [Tay] Roc. I like the space where Surf is at right now and I think he’s ready for anybody. He always bring 110 million every time he come in the muthafuckin’ ring. I respect that. Mook? I ain’t seen Mook in a minute, since the [Loaded] Lux shit. It’s all good, he’s been putting in work for the culture for years. It’s going to be interesting to see how he performs against some of the newer talent.”

Although Smack didn’t say it exactly, the URL boss definitely suggested that Murda Mook needs to substantiate his claims of being the best by hopping back in the ring.

“When them OG niggas come home from jail — them niggas that caught bodies in the ‘80s and shit — niggas ain’t respecting that shit,” Smack says. “That’s what’s going on with Surf and Mook. Surf ain’t respecting and I ain’t mad. Them niggas’ guns is going off right now. Who gives a fuck about last year, two years or ten years ago? That shit don’t mean nothing to me. Niggas is active right now. Putting in that work and that’s all that counts at the end of the day. Straight up … If you that nigga that you saying, you gotta go in there and take a couple of niggas’ heads off. Let them know you at where you at because of this work you about to display to the world right now. That’s how I feel about this shit.”

Finally, Smack revealed that the league’s “Rookies vs. Vets” event is going to become an annual event. He says that he wants to make the card a marquee event similar to that of NOME and Summer Madness.
