Everything You Missed At Don't Flop's "Sunburn 2" (Part 1)

A quick rundown of Day 1 of Don't Flop's U.K. vs. U.K. event.

Reviews for Day 1 of Don't Flop's "Sunburn 2" are in, and they are solid. The London event focused exclusively on pairings between U.K. talent, showing off the depth of the league's current roster. Along with several standout performances from Wizard, Cojay, Double L and Jai 90, the battle between ex-DF champ Tony D and rising star Raptor wowed those in attendance.

Flex Digits wasn't able to attend the event to face Impact, and the final battle between Marlo and Pedro went down outside after the venue needed people to pack up earlier than anticipated.

Carl Kinsella, a fan and Don't Flop blog writer who was in the building, gave this concise summary in the league's Viewpoint Facebook group:

Heretic vs Stowaway: Heretic started real well and went full British comedy, plenty of Partridge and Peep Show references. Stowaway was funny and crowned Heretic very well but his delivery was very nervous. Dry ice filled the room halfway through the battle.

Jai 90 vs Willzy: Jai 90 bodied like I SAID HE WOULD. He's really good at impressions and he's a great performance. Bodied Willzy's whole second round with one flip.

Wizard vs Ogmios: Comedy classic. Wizard is a savant. Og was really funny but Wizard is just a genius. Too many quotables, I won't spoil it for anyone.

Double L vs Adam The Rapper: Double L's best performance since Jai 90. He was on top form here. Adam fucked his first round up but he had some real interesting political stuff and broke Double L down. Clear win for Double L.

2 on 2: hysterically funny. "While you man were all out squabbling at the press conference, I was at home standing naked in the mirror feeling self conscious"

Raptor vs Tony D: holy shit, this will be as hotly debated as Shotty vs Tony (which is even more impressive because raptor doesn't have fan boys). The crowd was going crazy for both of these guys and Raptor did so well. Best ever performance vs Tony I think. "You read books to see through the authors eyes, I read people to see if they're authorised". It was the first time someone took angles against Tony that really worked. That being said, Tony's bars were the best of the battle. This was a classic. Less epic than Tony Shotty but a much better, more concise battle.

Cojay vs Briggzy: what has Cojay become? Briggzy got up right in cojays face right away but it backfired. It seemed to give Cojay more energy to go with his best writing ever and Briggzy ended to stumbling a good bit. Cojay is so good.

Marlo vs Pedro: had to happen outside, was kind of a mess in the best way you could think. The noise from traffic and planes hurt Marlo a bit but he was still hilarious and Pedro was Pedro.

Not a bad battle in sight, six or seven GREAT individual performances. Very successful day for UK battle rap. Well done to all, I'm very tired.

Also pretty much everyone commented on how good the food from professional chef Sam Lounds turned out.

Sunday will see Day 2 of the event, featuring battles between Unanymous and Shuffle-T, Pamflit vs. Harry Baker and more.
