URL has unveiled the details of its next card, scheduled to go down Dec. 12 at Gramercy Theater in New York.
- Tay Roc vs. John John Da Don
- Charlie Clips vs. Shotgun Suge
- DNA vs. Brizz Rawsteen
- K-Shine vs. X-Factor
- Chilla Jones vs. Th3 Saga
Though they weren't announced in the trailer, we're hearing Cortez vs. Uno Lavoz should also be on the main card.
Despite some big names, the card is relatively moderate compared to the bigger offerings URL has brought this year, a fact that Beasley addressed in a new episode of Queenzflip's Battle Road.
"It's a nice little Christmas card," the URL boss explains. "Listen, everything is not gonna be NOME and Summer Madness. If you wanna do more battles, we cannot do that four or five times a year, guys. Please understand, you never know what the battles are gonna be until they happen. I don't wanna hear 'Oh! We're not going! Murda Mook and Loaded Lux and Hitman [Holla] and Aye Verb aren't on the card. We can't make it!' There are other people out here that are talented. Let's rock out."
Beasley continued by explaining that he feels that URL is its own biggest competition, with fans expecting the league to outdo itself with every new card. "The bottom line is everybody wants to see the top names, and they're used to us delivering that. But at the same token, we can't do that all the time. We want to entertain more. I wanna do smaller battles, I wanna give other people that are coming up shots ... I wanna do cards where there's only 250-300 people present to give that feel ... I would love to do that more if given the opportunity. Sometimes when we do smaller cards people jump online and they start going crazy, and signing petitions, [saying] 'Oh we shouldn't support this. This isn't any good. I don't wanna see it.'"
The Charlie Clips vs. Shotgun Suge announcement already has Twitter lit:
