Amidst the drama surrounding BOTBUK's first event in London, England this past Sunday (Dec. 6), Charlie Clips and Gemini recapped their planned one-round battle — one of the few that went off as planned — with BattleRap.com correspondent Impact. The event started off showing great promise with this battle, but things took several turns for the worse with long delays and some match-ups (including the main event between Pat Stay and Hollow Da Don) getting switched to one-rounders at the last minute.
Charlie Clips gave his candid opinion on the first-time league's event saying, "For they first event, I could say there was a lot of ups and downs, but the night ended beautifully. Even though Pat Stay and Hollow had to resort to a one rounder, I think the one round was actually dope and who's to say the three rounder would've been that dope?"
Clips also took time to talk about his opponent, "I fuck with Gemini tonight man, I think he was dope, it was so funny, cause you know it's like I be coaching these dudes sometimes in between they rounds, talking to 'em, helping them out, I be having fun man, that's what's it's all about. I think a lot of people get mad that I have fun."
"The battle was crazy, back and forth, the crowd was probably one of the best things about the battle...I'm just happy," said Gemini, who is on an impressive streak of performances after having a standout victory over Dialect at Don't Flop's "7th Birthday Weekend" in the same venue last month.
Speaking about how receptive the crowd was to start the event, Gemini says "When [Clips'] first round was going off the crowd was so hyped up for his shit, so it was just making me mad. I was just like are they reacting to everything you saying, so in the end I was just like nah I've got to turn up. After the first four bars I got the sense of the room."
Like Clips, Gemini also took time to give his opinion on the league, saying, "They made sure everything I sorta needed got sorted out ... I definitely fuck with them for what they done today."
