Breaking Down Don't Flop's Sheffield Card

What you need to know ahead of the card that features MyVerse, Jonny Storm, Shox The Rebel, Shuffle-T and more.

Don't Flop Sheffield is going down today (March 5), with a lineup that has been in flux in the days leading up to the event. Quill dropped out of his battle with MyVerse (which caused a fair amount of controversy in DF's Viewpoint Facebook group), so now MyVerse will be taking on both Villun and Oshea in separate battles. Arsonal also cancelled his main event against a returning Psychosis Holochaust, saying that he'd lost his passport. Jonny Storm vs. Innuendo and Tali vs. P Solja have been added to the card as replacement battles.

We'll have U.K. battler Craft-D doing updates from the event so check us out on Twitter and Instagram for the play-by-play.

CARD BREAKDOWN

Villun vs. MyVerse

With the original scheduled battle with Quill falling through, Don’t Flop acted quickly and set up not one, but two replacement battles so the Florida emcee can finally make her Don’t Flop debut. With a battle falling through with Bonnie Godiva on Don’t Flop Atlanta last year, she has had some bad luck but this one should be a good battle for her.

Villun is a fairly big name in Don’t Flop, averaging more than 200,000 views over 17 battles according to Versetracker (thanks to some high-profile match-ups with DNA, Unanymous and Carloss), and is a solid debut for MyVerse.

It’s also Villun’s first battle in more than a year, last battling JShort at Don’t Flop’s "Office Christmas Party" in December 2014. Check out Villun vs. Unanymous for his best performance.

Oshea vs. MyVerse

MyVerse’s second replacement battle netted her a huge U.K. name. Oshea was the first Don’t Flop champion and helped carve the league into what it is today. The scouse emcee has more than 90 battles online but surprisingly this is his first battle against a female opponent. It'll be interesting to see how he approaches it, but one thing's for sure, Oshea will be absolutely hilarious. He was in fine form against Kid Twist at Don’t Flop’s "7th Birthday Weekend" and will be a tough test for MyVerse, even more so with it being her second battle of the event.

Shox The Rebel vs. Jonny Storm

Coming off some recent fire battles with Olde English and Templer Surfa Kid, Shox will be facing his second international opponent after his Lu Cipher battle at 7BW. Against Olde English, he stated his performance was to make up for what he believed was a sub-par showing against Lu and he certainly proved that on the Christmas Card.

This is Storm’s first U.K. appearance since battling Charron at "Blood In The Water 5" in 2011, which was DF’s first U.S. vs. Canada match-up.

Jonny Storm vs. Innuendo

The Florida emcee will also be facing Innuendo in a short-notice match-up to make up for the cancelled main event. He should at least be sitting on some bars since his DF Orlando battle with Charlie Clips fell through last weekend.

Shuffle-T vs. Heretic

DF's 2015 Newcomer Of The Year gets a huge shot against a fan favorite and one half of the DF 2-on-2 champions. Heretic is no pushover though; he won his Best Newcomer title against Craft-D at 7BW and looked comfortable and assured in front of the large audience.

Meanwhile, Shuffle-T has arguably lost his last two solo battles against Unanymous and 100 Bulletz (where he took a judged L) so he'll be interested in putting things right.

They both come with a similar style and sense of humor but Shuffle-T’s experience may overpower the Don’t Flop newbie.

Cojay vs. Unanymous

Cojay's battle with DNA at the 7BW pre-party was the clear standout that night, and also made BattleRap.com's Top Battles From February. He's been making his way up the roster in his last few battles and is part of a new wave of U.K. talent.

Unanymous had a mixed 2015, starting off with comfortable defeats against Tony D in the title match and Gemini at "Checkpoint 2" before coming back strong in the second half of the year with a great performance against Shuffle-T at "Sunburn 2" and a debatable battle with Big T at 7BW.

This should be a solid style clash between two on-form emcees who want to keep their momentum going.

Danny Jaqq vs. J-Red

J-Red is one of the funniest newcomers in the league and Danny Jaqq is coming off a hilarious compliments battle with Frankie Phraser at Don’t Flop’s Christmas Card. Danny has already started throwing shots over Twitter and J-Red always makes battles entertaining. Should be a great battle to help warm up the crowd. Check out J-Red vs. Ren DMC and Danny Jaqq vs. Deep Throat Thug for two of their best performances.

Bobby Rex vs. Ambi

With both emcees throwing shots at each other over the "Viewpoint 16 challenge" recently, this battle makes perfect sense. Ambi has been around slightly longer than Rex but they’re two of the best newcomers in the league and have a string of good recent performances.

This event will be their first shot on a big stage, so it'll be interesting to see if they can step up in front of a big crowd. Check out Bobby Rex vs. Evil for his best performance and Ambi vs. Lex for a great battle. Ambi also showed a lot of potential in his recent battle against Locksmyth.
