Pnut & J Dose Recap Their "Back To Basics 4" Battle

Both emcees give their thoughts on the battle that got The Bunker off to a strong start.

After opening up the inaugural event at KOTD's new West Coast hub, The Bunker, J Dose and Pnut were each interviewed by Frak, discussing their opinion of the battle.

Pnut kept it simple when discussing how he felt the battle came off, saying: “I felt it went good." He did, however, note a slip-up that he had: "There was a brief point where I was thrown off because he jumped in, and started his second before I finished my first."

When speaking about how Dose performed in the battle, Pnut said: “Usually with Dose he either takes time to warm up, or he starts out fully aggressive. And he was fully aggressive, and he did the Philly flow, which I like, I’m a fan of that. So I was happy to see that he did actually try, he didn’t sleep on the battle.”

In addition to the battle, Pnut praised the concept of pay-per-view battles in general, saying: “The pay-per-view’s good because it gives you more exposure. Let’s be honest, there’s so many battles coming out, that you’re not always going to get your battle seen ... when you get the pay-per-view, and it’s all lumped together, it’s a good look, I like that.”

Frak also spoke with Philly rapper J Dose and discussed not just his battle, but his frustration with the Math Hoffa incident still being brought up so heavily.

In something that is sure to be seen as a positive for all of his fans, Dose appears to want to be more active in the scene, as he indicated that “I hope I can come back more often, hopefully King Of The Dot books me more often, and we can do this shit.”

Dose said that in some of his previous battles he “kind of strayed away from that Philly style, in regards to the aggression I give. That was really something that separated me from a lot of other battle rappers."

On his opponent, Dose said that Pnut’s material was “pretty solid” but indicated that he had a lot of lines that “you could catch very easily, which the crowd gravitated to.” Also, Dose noted that Pnut stayed on the Math Hoffa topic too long. Dose seems tired of the angle, as he said he’s had an extensive battle resume, and feels people still are using the most simplistic “punch” wordplay referencing the first Math battle.

On what’s next for him, Dose said simply “hopefully more battles, music, things of that nature. I’m also an artist, so don’t just restrict me or confine me to just battle rap. I’m more than just that.”
