Dot Mob Talks Drake, K-Shine With Sway

"I don’t got no beef with that man. I listen to his music — I like Drake," Mook explains.

Dot Mob original members Murda Mook, T-Rex and Dutch Brown stopped by Sway In The Morning on May 3 to perform a few songs and talk about the battle rap and music world.

Though Dot Mob has many members, they explain that Mook, Rex and Brown were the original three, and that they'd been established for about 10 years before K-Shine joined.

Sway also broaches the subject of K-Shine's membership in the group, a topic that was central to the Dot Mob/NWX feud last year.

"He’s doing what he’s doing," Mook states simply, explaining that there's no beef between his crew and NWX. "We don’t beef with nobody. There’s no such thing as beef," adding, "Everybody a competitor. If you not down with us, you a competitor.”

Mook also explains that the group is trying to compete more on the music front, while other Mob members like Tay Roc, Daylyt, Brizz Rawsteen and Chayna Ashely hold it down on the battle rap stage.

On how Day came to be a member of the crew, Rex and Mook said that they’d known him for years and always fucked with him, and Rex said that once they “put the Dot Mob stamp on him, his career in battle rap took off.”

Sway also brought up the possibility of a Murda Mook vs. Drake battle. Mook explained that some people have the idea that there is some sort of beef between them. Mook said rather it was a respectful situation where Drake challenged him, but that there was no real animosity there.

"I wanna clear that one up," Mook starts. "People see me in the street like 'Yo you and Drake got beef?' I don’t got no beef with that man. I listen to his music — I like Drake. But when we get into this kind of back-and-forth, and you challenge me — people forget that — that he was the one that said to me. I didn’t come out the blue … So now it’s like ok ‘I’m on you’ but when I see him, it’s cool. I don’t want people to just think [we got beef]."

On if a rumored battle vs. Tsu Surf would ever happen, Mook responded cryptically “I’m a businessman” but somewhat clarified by saying that it would likely be financially worth it to make that battle happen.

In addition to the interview section with Sway, they performed two songs ("Voices" and "Neva Told on Nobody"), rapped a cypher and took phone calls.
