Meet West Coast Up-And-Comer Sam Kolt

Sam Kolt says he's getting used to his opponents no-showing against him.

Already with strong performances against Patron and Reverse Live, Sam Kolt is one of the most promising up-and-comers on the West Coast. Chris Mitchell caught up with him at "Back To Basics 4," which was supposed to be the Sacramento emcee's Ground Zero debut against Bobby Lee Swagger. His opponent backed out on short notice, making this the second no-show in a row for Kolt.

Sam Kolt said of his beginnings in the scene, “I just got into the battle rap shit low-key, kinda by accident, me and my boy Dom would just spar back and forth, he’s like ‘yo, we really need to try out’… so we both do it and shit’s been history since.”

On his cancelled battle, Kolt seemed to indicate that this sort of thing was par for the course with him, saying, “Basically he got pneumonia, a couple of my opponents have gotten sick before battling me, like DOT. I’m used to it.”
