Ab-Soul Battles Daylyt On “These Days…”

Ab-Soul: I wanted to try to see if I could do that if I could—blur the lines between the battle rapper and rapper who battle raps.”

During a listening session for his upcoming release, These Days… held in Santa Monica, California’s Red Bull Studios, Ab-Soul revealed that he included a one round battle with Daylyt as a hidden track at the end of the album.

“A lot of people are wondering why the last track is 23 minutes,” Ab-Soul said. “I actually battled one of my favorite battle rappers right now. His name is Daylyt. Battle Rap is very popular these days. Like I said, I want this to be a time capsule of the times right now and it’s more exciting than it’s been at this point. I wanted to try to see if I could do that if I could—blur the lines between the battle rapper and rapper who battle raps.”

Ab-Soul played the entire battle for those in attendance. The following bars are included in the TDE-artist’s round:

“I came with name flips for days / Tailored just for Day / Peep / I’m expecting Day to base his verse on / Data based on turds / My database said / Day a bass head / But that Day a basehead / Is he dope? / Nope / Who gave Day the base? / Ball is what we do best…”

The full battle can be heard on Ab-Soul’s These Days…, which will be released tomorrow (June 24).
