Top Moments From KOTD's "Battle Of Los Angeles 5"

Remembering the good times at King of the Dot's Battle of Los Angeles 5.

With all of Battle Rap going crazy over the Dizaster and Math Hoffa punch, we thought we'd shine a light on some of the more fun moments that were overshadowed at King of the Dot's Battle of Los Angeles 5 last weekend.

Here they are, in no particular order.

Daylyt’s Disappearing Face Tattoo

During the event, Daylyt moved through the venue wearing a hat, a hoodie and sunglasses. He took pictures with fans, answered interview questions for the media and battled Charlie Clips with hundreds of people watching him. Somehow no one tweeted that his spawn mask face tattoo was gone. David Blaine couldn’t even do that.

Clips’ third round concept going in on Daylyt’s alter ego was pure gold. That Daylyt was acting as a hype man from the sidelines, yelling "Fight back ski mask!" added to the fun.

Illmaculate’s “Timekeeper” Freestyle

With Aye Verb complaining about his opponent going over the time limit with hosts Malathion and Organik, Illmac enters freestyle mode to end the first round with the line:

“And off top you know how I know this guy's eager and I'm in his head like a fucking mind reader?/Cuz now he's bitching out over here talking to Malathion trying to play timekeeper."

Real Deal vs. Chilla Jones

After sudden cancellations of his last two KOTD matchups, Real Deal finally had someone show up to battle him. And boy did Chilla show up. Both of these MCs were there to win and the trash talking from previous battles only heightened the competitiveness. Chilla’s “he's a racist because he always leaves niggas hanging” high-five approach got one of the biggest reactions of the night.

Ab-Soul’s Appearance

Buzzing California rapper Ab-Soul dropped by, chilled with fans, co-hosted some battles and got his name freestyled into Clips' rounds for Daylyt. Ab-Soul has also made his appreciation for battle rap clear by putting an 18-minute battle between him and Daylyt at the end of his new album.

The Peace Treaty

To close their 2-on-2 battle against Dirtbag Dan and Caustic, U.K. doubles champions Shuffle-T and Marlo pulled out a piece of paper with the words "Peace Treaty” printed on it in large font. They brought it as an offering to formally settle the differences between KOTD and Don't Flop.

Carter Deems

The biggest story to emerge from Day 1 was the comedic genius/complete weirdo with the Texan drawl and the three layers of “I Luv Cats” shirts hiding his "I Luv Cats" marker tattoo. Almost every photo posted on Twitter and Instagram from the event that night was of him doing something that had almost certainly never been done at a battle rap event before.

Rock-Paper-Scissors

Instead of the traditional coin toss to decide who started the Bigg K/Danny Myers battle, the two of them played rock-paper-scissors. As with all games of rock-paper-scissors they spent an awkwardly long time trying to figure out if they showed on three or after three. It didn't help that Myers threw a "1" the first time too.

Dizaster vs. Math Hoffa

Everything that happened before the punch was battle rap at its finest. Both competitors brought their best performance in ages and the crowd was riding with them equally. We've already heard a fair amount of buzz calling this one of the best battles of the year so far.

The GZ callouts

Lush---Young-B

It's clear that rebranding GZ Battles as a separate league will not be an easy task with both Young B and Fredo going in on the hosts for being booked there and not on the main channel event, leading to some awkward moments on Day 1.
