Ok, so first of all, don’t expect this recap to be as thorough as the one we did for Day 1. We got to Black Star Video in Harlem after the PG event started, didn’t catch all the battles because we were doing interviews, and couldn’t stay in the venue for longer than about 10 minutes unless absolutely necessary because of how hot it was.
If you were there, let us know what we missed in the comment section below.
Ty Law vs. B Magic
The best battle of the weekend, or at least my personal favorite. Read our "Top Moments From NOME 5” for the full recap.
Chef Trez vs. Dre Dennis
Spit Dat Heat’s top prospect Chef Trez made his highly anticipated PG debut and delivered on his potential against Dre Dennis. Trez has been cooking long enough that more people should be paying attention and it's good to see that the luke-warm performance he gave the Quiet Room when he was sick didn't stop him from getting upcoming match-ups with B Magic and Daylyt. The 21-year-old Atlantan’s performance was flawless and caught more than our attention.

Dre Dennis did well and clearly had the advantage in performance and projection, but after 30 battles he should know better than to start with a “you’re gonna die here/dye hair … Dennis Rodman” line. His third was his strongest, and made the battle the most entertaining PG clash of the night (that I saw).

Fliiko L vs. Hemi
Fliiko’s another SDH regular who’s been all over this site’s Top Battles Of The Month lists recently, and along with Chef Trez was our #1 pick for the most slept-on battle of 2014. He cooked too.
His opponent Hemi, from New Orleans, had good content, but rapped quickly and was even quicker to blame the crowd for not reacting. It’s tough to chastise people into cheering for you, and his reactions will make it harder for his supporters to say he won in the footage.
There was some mild shoving at one point, but it didn't escalate beyond what we caught here:

Tali vs. Bangz
U.K. rapper Tali was most likely the person who came the furthest to be at NOME 5 and his battle was the final one of the weekend, going down around the corner from Black Star after the venue shut down for the day. He was originally scheduled to battle Scotty P, but that fell apart on about 48 hours notice, so instead he got paired with CT standout Bangz.
We missed the battle, but spoke to Tali after, who said he wasn’t thrilled with the results, but was confident that he’d be back to battle in NYC again.

Standout Performances
The name that kept coming up when we asked what we’d missed: Nunn Nunn. People spoke in hushed tones about his "it" factor and the Darkside co-signs from Tink Tha Demon and Brizz Rawsteen speak volumes.
There were also rumblings about performances from Progrest, Ave vs. Riggz, and Haixian.
DMV vs. St. Louis
Danja Zone took Aye Verb up on his challenge and brought three DMV prospects to face Verb's St. Louis killers. Haitian was the standout. He's had a few battles on small leagues and if this one-rounder drops (most likely as a War Report exclusive) his stock should rise. In any case, people seemed to think the three one-round battles were a good way to kick things off.
All-Star Crowd
There were tons of recognizable faces there, including Loaded Lux, Hollow Da Don, Big T, Aye Verb, Jaz The Rapper, O’fficial, Chess, Brizz Rawsteen, Steams, Miltown Bloe, Tink Tha Demon, E. Farrell, Smack, Beasley, Nunu, The War Report crew, and another two dozen other semi-notable names.
