Everything You Missed At Don't Flop's A3C Battles

Breakdowns of Big T vs. Caustic, Brixx vs. Cortez, Marv Won vs. Uno Lavoz and more.

Maj here. And if you know me, you won't be surprised that I'm starting this piece with a complaint. Because nitpicking is just some shit I have a tendency to do.

My car is being fixed so I had to take MARTA (Atlanta's metro transit system) to get to the event and walked another 25 minutes to the venue because heaven forbid Atlanta have a bus that would drop me off at the event for $2.50 instead of trying to charge me seven bucks to ride the trolley that breaks down constantly. Call me broke. I don't care. I make normal money and live a normal live.

Got inside and the venue was humid. Saw Carter Deems and Brixx Belvy and chopped it up. Coolest dudes. Carter told me he battled his Uber driver on the ride over.

The battles got started and first up was Syd Vicious vs. A-Class. Both are the homies and A-Class had that dope battle with Automatic Ray recently and was ... the exact opposite. A few bars into his first be choked and the battle seemed to lose its steam before the extra coal went into the engine, you feel me?

A3C-Syd-Vicious-vs-A-Class

Syd 3-0'd him. Sorry A-Class but it is what it is. Syd was dope in this despite the stumbles in the third.

Next was Uno Lavoz vs. Marv Won...

A3C-Marv-Won-vs-Uno-Lavoz

Look, Uno is a cool, down-to-earth dude who seems to take criticism very well ... which is refreshing to see in a world of promo battles where niggas can't admit they lost. You still gain experience points from L's yo.

This match-up was a bit one-sided — not that Uno didn't have some lines accompanied with his classic wit that didn't hit — but Marv left earth in this battle. LOTS of amazing rebuttals. Marv donned the grey hoody lyrically and went full Lux in the third, attacking Lavoz's credentials as a parent. Now I like to believe I'm a great father, but these Luxesque tactics had me wondering if I should take my son camping more. Maybe help him build a treehouse or some shit. Marv 3-0. But Uno is cool peoples and talented at what he does.

Next was Automatic Ray vs. Troy Brown.

Troy-Brown-vs-Automatic-Ray

This might have been the second best battle of the night. Ray had a dope back and forth with A-Class and Troy had an amazing battle vs. Lu Cipher (underrated as fuck!) and these two rebuttaled each other every round. Troy went classic freestyle mode where there were stalls but that's expected, and the two had an amazing debatable. I need to see that one on film (which is possible now since the footage already dropped). Troy spit gun bars ... and I was here for that shit. Ray gets more and more solid every battle. Scary how on point and consistent this nigga is. Salute.

Next was Brixx vs Cortez.

A3C-Brixx-vs.-Cortez

THIS was battle of the night. The first seemed slow for Brixx but Cortez has officially changed for the better. There were glimpses of the Cortez that battled Hitman and it was good to see. I know he came off the win vs. Cyssero and he was in his bag this entire battle. The reason it's debatable is because Cor tried to out wordplay Brixx. A former SONS member. Those niggas made the Statue of Liberty with their wordplay b. Cor's wordplay is nice but it is a foot soldier compared to Brixx being on a Super Saiyan level and that's what we got in the second and third. 100% debatable. Amazing battle.

Next was Big T vs. Caustic.

A3C-Big-T-vs-Caustic

By this time, Soul Khan was in Caustic's corner, and almost ALL of the URL kind of Wyatt Family'd their way onto Big T's side of the stage. NO idea where these niggas came from. They just materialized behind Big T.

Caustic had some lines that honestly flew over heads a bit. But the crowd seemed a bit more like A3C attendees than battle rap fans so I understood.

Caustic's round ended with Soul Khan doing Big T gunshot sounds. Crowd went wild for that.

Then Big T spit and it was shocking. I can see a lot of people finding his performance in this shit nearly flawless. The "then I'll dump the tray like I wasn't hungry" line was haymaker of the night. Big T was incredibly creative. Caustic is the homie but I gotta give the battle to Big T.

And when I left the venue, I managed to catch a video of Shine, Surf and Cortez going at it in an argument. Entertaining stuff.

Incredible night. Dope time.

I'm Maj and I'm out.

Peace.
