URL has traditionally reserved its Christmas release for some of the biggest battles of the year. Tsu Surf vs. Conceited, Arsonal vs. Calicoe and Tay Roc vs. DNA are some of the mega match-ups that have earned the honor of the prestigious holiday release. But this year, for the first time ever, URL is dropping two battles on Christmas — John John Da Don vs. Tay Roc, and another release that is perhaps even more anticipated that features two relatively unknown emcees: Ave and Mike P.
2015 has been a notable year for URL when it comes to building new talent, with events such as "Rookies vs. Vets" and "Redemption" giving promising emcees a chance to shine on bigger stages. One battler who seems ready for the next main stage look is Norfolk, Virginia's Ave.
Anyone who has been following this site's PG coverage will remember how impressed we were with his last battle, against Nunn Nunn the day after "Summer Madness 5."
Ave is the best new pure rapper I've seen in ages.

And his opponent for the "Perfect Day" PGs wasn't going to be a walk in the park. Mike P is a battler who has been building amazing momentum with his performances and opinionated blogs, but the consensus at the event was that Ave exceeded expectations, clearly beating Mike P and once again having performance of the night.
In the building Ave might have edged Mike P every round, but that was classic. Battle of the weekend easy

My favorite battle of the weekend by far was Mike P. vs Ave

Ave had the best PG performance of the year tonight... Ridiculous performance in general

BattleRap.Com caught up with Ave after his battle with Mike P to see what was next for him. He said he hasn’t really thought about future opponents, he'll just take "whoever they throw at him.”
“It’s about pen testing," he said. "'Cause the object is to progress and get better.”
Ave started in Norfolk's 7 Cities Sharks battle league in 2012 and already has a resume decorated with plenty of well-known talent. With opponents such as John John Da Don, Ty Law, Steams and Ah Di Boom under his belt, he's already faced more names than most PGs, including some who have already made it to the main stage.
Check out some of his earlier performances below:
Ave vs. Nunn Nunn
Ave’s amazing performance at the SM5 PGs.
Ave vs. Ah Di Boom
Heated battle at TrapHouseNY’s Virginia event.
Ave vs. Ty Law
Great showing against one of the scene’s best punchers.
Ave vs. D Flamez
An impressive one-sided showing at Ave’s home league.
