The Saurus vs. Daylyt: Was It A Classic?

Frak catches up with The Saurus to ask his thoughts on the "Back To Basics 4" clash.

Four things in life are certain: death, taxes, Tim Duncan winning 50 games and The Saurus turning in strong battle performances. At KOTD's "Back to Basics 4," the West Coast stalwart had another strong show in a great battle against Daylyt in Los Angeles on April 16. Saurus caught up with BattleRap.com contributor Frak to give his thoughts on the battle.

Saurus spoke about his strategy and Day’s strategy sort of mirroring each other: “I think we definitely both consciously combatted each other sort of, with the other’s type of style, at least for a round.” When asked for who actually won, The Saurus left it up for debate: “I think it comes down to second round, whoever people think won the second round. I think I got the first … and then he clearly got the third round.”

The Saurus dismissed the idea of Daylyt doing antics that took away from their battle, saying that they’ve “always been cool” with each other.

For many, this was seen as a West Coast dream match. The Saurus seemed to agree with the sentiment as he spoke on the significance of the match-up, saying: “For us to finally get to battle each other, it’s kind of a big thing for the West Coast. We’re two pioneers of our own lanes, and have been for a really long time — almost as long as the written scene’s been the active standard of battling.”

The Saurus also indicated that he was supposed to battle E. Farrell at KOTD’s "Massacre 2," but that Farrell had to pull out over health reasons. When asked who he would like to battle he said Aye Verb, E. Ness and Chilla Jones had all expressed interest, and that he’d be more than willing to battle any of the three.
