Lush One On KOTD, Alki David, Aspect One & Being Sober

Lush One clarifies his position on a few topics that have had fans talking recently.

In a pre-"Battle Of The Bay 7" interview, Fresh Coast fixture Lush One clarified his relationships with King Of The Dot, Aspect One and Alki David. All of these topics have been the subject of hearsay and controversy lately, so we thought we'd go straight to the source.

Aspect One, a former staff member of KOTD, recently announced his departure from the league and (after this interview was filmed) a new affiliation with New York-based battle platform, SMACK/URL.

In this conversation at BattleRap.com’s Los Angeles headquarters, Lush One spoke on Aspect’s departure from KOTD, citing differences of opinion with other members of the team as the primary reason for his parting.

“Aspect [One] is the homie, he’s still the homie,” Lush One says. “Him and I never had a falling out. There was never anything directly and we were the two dudes that were organizing shit in the West and we had a really good rapport with each other. There was a lot of things that I’m not gonna speak on or put on blast because I’m not gonna compromise my friendship with him in any way and it doesn’t even need to be spoke on. But, there were definitely differences of opinion between him and other members of the staff.

"Ultimately Aspect has a career in music and has other things that he had popping that he’s still focusing on. Aspect had health issues that he needed to focus on as well so there was a lot of elements that I don’t wanna touch on too much because it’s not really relevant. To be honest, that’s not to say that Aspect will never be involved with the Fresh Coast or King Of The Dot again, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was. [Just] for the time being, things needed to kind of move in a different direction.”

Earlier in the conversation, Lush One spoke on the current relationship between Fresh Coast Media Group (the team associated with last December's "Ether" event) and King Of The Dot.

“The dynamics of our relationship is always growing,” Lush One explained. “One thing that’s not gonna change is me and Organik’s relationship [and] our friendship which predates King Of The Dot and Grind Time by several years. It predates all that shit. That’s family and we’re continuing to rock together. There was a lot of things that needed to be cleared up and that are continuing to get cleared up but at the end of the day, still Fresh Coast, still King Of The Dot.”

Lush also speaks on the fake fight footage between him and "Ether" financier Alki David that caused a massive blowback from fans.
