Behind The Scenes At Snoop Dogg's "Take Flight On Sight"

EXCLUSIVE: “It’s a beautiful thing,” Lush One says of Snoop Dogg’s new “Take Flight On Sight” series.

For the last couple of months, Snoop Dogg has been working with Las Vegas-based battle league AHAT to put together an invite-only tournament for a spot in the next "Gladiator School" green-screen battle.

BattleRap.com was present at the first taping, which took place on April 4 in Los Angeles, and caught interviews with some of the emcees featured on the card via our reporter for the day, Cali Smoov.

Da Kid Clutch: “Snoop Dogg Just Equalized The Playing Field”

Following his battle against 65 Hunnit, Da Kid Clutch gave us his thoughts on the new battle rap series.

“I feel like what Snoop got going on out here is the great equalizer,” Da Kid Clutch says. “Snoop is cutting all that political bullshit out and he just equalized the playing field. It’s a great platform for niggas out here that’s been working that can’t get there because of the bullshit.”

Lush One & Billy Boondocks Weigh In

Cali Smoov also caught up with Lush One and Billy Boondocks during the event to get their take on the new series.

“It’s awesome for the music industry to actually get behind battle rap and support it because it’s two worlds that actually need to come together that have been long apart,” Billy Boondocks, who battled Danny Myers at the event, says.

“Man, it’s a beautiful thing,” Lush One adds. “Exactly what [Billy Boondocks] said. You see out there at the big SMACK/URL events you see Diddy in the building, you see Busta Rhymes, Lloyd Banks, Method Man, Jadakiss, all of them make their presence felt so it’s only right that the legends of the West Coast [do so too].”

D Tay & Shi Dog Recap Their Battles

BattleRap.com also spoke with D Tay and Shi Dog following their respective match-ups at the event.

“It was some beautiful shit,” Shi Dog says. “It’s a beautiful concept to bring freestyling back into the game on some real hip hop shit. It was fun, dawg. Unbelievable event, I got off. My opponent got off [too]. This what it was supposed to be.”

“Me and Aktive put on a classic," D Tay says. "We had some bars, we was killing shit. Uncle Snoop said we both killed shit. We good. We getting there, boy. We was cookin’.”

There's been another taping since these first interviews. Check out this recap for more details.
