Everything You Missed At Don't Flop's "Sunburn 2" (Part 2)

Day 2 of the all-U.K. event featured appearances from Unanymous, Shuffle-T, Harry Baker, Arkaic, Tali and more.

Don't Flop is back with a third straight day of battle rap in London, looking to keep the momentum rolling after a successful Day 1 yesterday (Sept. 6) and a solid night of warm-up battles on Friday.

Sunday's lineup featured a slew of established and emerging U.K. talent, culminating in the highly anticipated match-up between Unanymous and Shuffle-T.

Like for Day 1, fan, DF blogger and Ed Sheeran lookalike (don't worry, that'll come up later) Carl Kinsella wrote a succinct recap on Don't Flop's Viewpoint Facebook group that we'll post for posterity's sake.

Big up all the fans who came out today and making the event what it was, and big up to Eurgh and the DF team for throwing an event that proved that pure UK battle rap can not only stand on its own two feet, but match a birthday weekend in terms of quality.

THE BATTLES:

JRed vs Liv Wynter: okay, so Liv Wynter choked every single round. Her third didn't even happen. JRed was great though and kept the crowd live which was pretty impressive considering that the crowd could have easily fell asleep. He said "I was born by four possible mothers, my dad was a G"

Bru-C vs P Solja: on-beat battle, good shout to warm the crowd up. P Solja started well but Bru-C won. Bru-C vs Bam for on beat champ tbh

Craft-D vs J Short: Craft-D's writing is insane. He got the judges decision and it says a lot about how good he is because J Short's been on the up and was clearly up for this. He was loud and full voiced and had a lot of good shit but Craft D went the fuck in.

Harry Baker vs Pamflit: Harry Baker's second was like a list of "I'm spitting it darker than-" and it was all fire. Pamflit's multis were Pamflit level and this battle was non stop laughs. Harry's second round seriously nuts though.

Juan vs Soljitsu: Spoilers, this was a total shutdown. Soljitsu's third started with a flip that murked Rob Wilson just a bit and ended it by bringing Callum out to get in Juan's face. Brixton shut down twice in one round. Those two things aside, Juan did probably win. His second broke Soljitsu down and made him look a lil silly for accepting every battle possible. Sol's second was all TV references and was a little light. CRAZY battle though. Crowd went off.

Ren DMC vs J Dillon: Ren DMC barely did a then what, heartbreakingly disappointing. Sounded a bit like he wrote his material like... Today. Read some of it off paper. Still funny though. So was J Dilllon. V funny, just lightweight.

Arkaic vs Tali: right before this Arkaic and I came through the door together and he was like "Ed Sheeran's here then". Body bagged. This battle was fucking crazy. Arkaic's best performance in a long time. Maybe ever? He was on fire. Turns out there are such effective angles on him though. Crowd loved Tali's shit on Diz and Steph. Arkaic said "I haven't dumped a 9 since I broke up with Steph" and "not even Soul knew how to/outer body experience". They both killed it but 2-1 Ark. Tali got the third.

Unan vs Shuffle: this was a different Unan. This wasn't dragon rap at all, it was Unan actually explaining why he does what he does and what makes him good, using his actual wit. He killed it and loads of people will say he won. Shuffle clearly took the third with a pretty savage attack on where Unan is these days. He said it was last chance saloon for Unan, and he was right - but Unan took his very last chance a nailed it.

Kid verbal cancelled on Shox, wouldn't pick his phone up all day. Wack.

All in all, two days of crazy battles with nearly every battler showing an improvement on their last performance. DF is in such a strong place right now with a roster of over 20 dudes who can kill it without Soul, Cee, Shotty, Lunar, Osh, Dialect, Gemini and Quill even on the card. That's fucking crazy to think about. Buy the PPV, bitches. Catch you later.
